Monday 20th July marks International Moon Day- the date of the first Lunar Landing in 1969.
Here’s a an amazing piece of music to listen to that depicts moonlight- one of my favourites to play. It’s Clair de Lune by the French composer Claude Debussy.
It’s such a well-love, atmospheric piece of piano music that has been used in many films.
This performance is an unusual album launch concert by Lang Lang, a great pianist of our time. It was on a boat along the Seine under the light of the moon, of course! Wow- I’d love to have been there!

Here’s a video of Forrest Kinney showing you some easy-to-follow suggestions of the kinds of things you could play for a piece called Moonshine. Even complete novices can try this on a piano- it will sound and feel beautiful!
